Girasole's Next Chapter

We are very excited to announce the next chapter for Girasole Pizza Company! We are quickly growing from just a mobile wood fired pizza stand to a wood fired cafe!!! We recently signed a lease for a beautiful space in the St. Johns neighborhood, and we are very thrilled to be a part of this community.

We are shooting to be open by the beginning of January, ready to kick off 2011 with some delicious pizza and tasty pasta! Until then we will be busy redecorating the space, and of course building our very own wood fired brick oven that will be visible to our customers. We are hoping to create an atmosphere that is enjoyable for people of all ages. With both of us owners having young children, we know there are very few places in St. Johns that are family friendly. Creating an environment that will be enjoyable for parents to bring there kids is very important to us, though we certainly will be no Chucky Cheeses! Ultimately we plan on creating a restaurant with tasty decently priced food, with cozy nooks to hangout in, and games at every table. There will also be music on Friday or Saturday nights, and the option to rent the space out for meetings or private parties on Mondays.

We are also excited to bring our favorite local brewery, Captured By Porches beer to St. Johns. They are planning on making us a special house brew and rotating out one of their favorites monthly. We will also carry a few other options by the bottle, any special request welcome!!!!

Lastly, we would like to share our plans for reusing as many materials as possible in the restaurant. We are looking for doors, bike wheels, and wine barrels at them moment. If you have any of these things, please let us know, but you will just have to wait to find out what they will be used for. In addition to needing certain materials, we are also looking for donations for the tables and booths. Each table and booth donated will be dedicated to the business, person, or organization contributing. Our tabletops will be painted with the desired logo, design or picture by a local artist, along with a plaque showing their name. If interested please let us know, a link to the donation form will be posted soon!

Here are a few pictures of the space before we started any work. I have also included a sneak peak of some of our progress thus far. Enjoy!

We are looking forward to meeting the residents of the St. John's community, get ready for an awesome wood fired experience with Girasole's Wood Fired Cafe.

  7. I live down the street and am very excited for your arrival to our neighborhood, I noticed your sign on my evening walk the other night. I feel lucky that we will have year round access to Captured by Porches right down the street, so we don't have to wait for the weekends on the island!
I would love to get in touch with you and discuss an opportunity with the non-profit I work for. I know this is an extremely busy time for you, so when you have the time! samantha.goldberger@pybpdx.org Thanks and good luck with the opening...see you soon!
